WiMax San Antonio Now Offering DirecTV Installs

WiMax San Antonio offering DirecTV InstallsYes, that’s right.  We’ve got a crew of trained, experienced DirecTV installers who  can get you setup with DirecTV by the next day, or sometimes sooner.  And our crews are willing to schedule installs or repairs during the hours you are home, so you don’t have to take off work to wait for someone to arrive between 8am and 4pm, etc.  We’ll work evenings or even weekends by appointment, on your schedule.

DirecTV and CLEAR make a winning combo, and we’re finding more and more customers who want to drop their cable or phone company’s services completely, which makes it perfect to substitute DirecTV and CLEAR.

CLEAR WiMax – Out With The Old, In With The New Packages

We’ve received the CLEAR Wimax Internet March / April Spring Special Deals, and there have been some significant changes to the pricing structure, just as we had “warned” you about earlier.

There are no more “PICK1″, “PICK2″ or “PICK3″ plans.  Instead you have “Get 1“, “Get 2“, etc. And instead of saying “Home” and “Mobile“, we now have “Home” and “On-the-Go” Internet services.   The CLEAR combo 4G/3G USB card for your laptop is now the “CLEAR USB 4G+” modem.  If you wanted the old PICK3 plan that let you have a Home Modem and 2 USB modems, sorry, not available any more.

One of the big improvements, in our opinion, is the ablity to substitute a CLEAR USB 4G+ modem in place of a CLEAR USB 4G (only) modem, by adding $15/month to the service plan, and then leasing or purchasing the appropriate modem.   The Home modem remains in 4G mode only.

CLEAR Lifetime Guarantee – Save $120/yr Until Feb 28th?

We’ve just been informed that CLEAR will be changing prices on its package plans, effective March 1st, at least here in the San Antonio Texas market, and will be removing the offering that says “price guaranteed for life” on the intro packages, and then offering the same intro price only for the first 6 months before increasing to the “regular” posted monthly rate.

For example, the PICK2 Plan advertised for $55/month will start out at that rate, but go up to $65/month beginning with the 7th month of service.  The PICK3 Plan now advertised at $75/month will go up to $85/month on the 7th month of service.  Naturally, CLEAR reserves the right to change their offered prices at any time, so you ought to lock in the lowest intro price now while you still can.

So if you were thinking about signing up for CLEAR 4G Wimax Wireless Internet, now’s the time to be making that happen, so you can save up to $120/year in service costs.

So to accomodate your needs and schedules, WiMAX SATX reps will only be available 7 days a week, days and evenings, and will take a break on the 8th day of the week, until everybody who wants signed up with CLEAR under the current low rates, had been signed up and activated.  We’ll bring the equipment to you, set it up for you free of charge, and leave you as a “happy camper” once more!

By the way, we set up a demo over the weekend for a client, who happened also to be one of our computer service clients.   His Road Runner speed was less than 2.5mbps and his CLEAR 4G Wireless Internet speed was over 12mbps.    Upon changing him back from his live demo test to his regular method, he could really tell the difference while surfing the Internet.  We suspect his mom will be signing up with us for CLEAR really soon!

Road Runner Mobile 4G In San Antonio

On January 21st, 2010, Time Warner Cable  launched their Clear-powered mobile WiMAX service in the San Antonio Area.  Last December 1st, they launched in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and several North Carolina markets, including Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Charlotte and Greensboro.  Austin  and Hawaii also got launched in January 2010.

Dubbed “Roadrunner Mobile,” the service offers speeds up to 6 Mbps for prices ranging from $39.95 a month to $79.95 a month, depending on your bundling options (you have to purchase at least one other service before they will sell you the mobile service).

Traveling With CLEAR 4G WiMAX

We went out of town last week, flying thru Houston to St. Louis on the way out, St. Louis thru Dallas back to San Antonio on the way back.  No signals in St. Louis yet, but we’ve been told from various sources that CLEAR is getting their infrastructure planned for that city to implement later in 2010.

Obviously Houston is already on the calendar for activation in about another month or two, But Dallas was already activated.

CLEAR WiMAX Speed Test from Inside Southwest Airlines 737 Jet

So, when we passed thru Dallas on the way back home, and we were sitting in the Southwest Airlines 737 Jet at the gate waiting to load new passengers, we cranked up the laptop and checked out CLEAR’s signal from inside the airplane.

We got an amazing 8.39 mbps download speed while sitting inside the airplane!  Wow!

Obviously if you travel a lot outside the CLEAR coverage areas, you want to get the combination 3G/4G modem for your laptop, not the less expensive 4G modem.    CLEAR offers a combo 3G/4G USB modem card that runs on the CLEAR WiMAX network in 4G mode, and then it drops down to 3G on the Sprint PCS network (with a 5gb usage cap). Pricing is competitive with similar offerings from Sprint (cause they use the same network) and the new offering from Time Warner (also using CLEAR’s network).

CLEAR offers the option to buy the combo card, or lease it for a few bucks per month.   In our opinion, you are better off leasing the card under contract than you are to buy it out right.

Contact us at 210-771-7075 or lee@wimaxsatx.com for more information about this item or any other service that CLEAR offers.   Don’t forget, we also offer on-site service, free demonstrations on-site, and computer services (anti-virus, anti-spyware, PC troublehooting, etc.).

Who Should Switch to Clear Wimax?

We constantly get the question “Should I switch to CLEAR?” But the answer isn’t as simple as you may think.   The easy answer is “Of course!”   The better answer is “Let’s look at your needs, and see what you are doing now for Internet, then let’s find the best solution for you.”

If you are looking for strictly mobile Internet access, and you stay primarily in the areas covered by CLEAR, then the answer is “YES” without any further question.

If you travel a lot outside the coverage area, you will want to invest in the more expensive combo 3G/4G modem and plan, so that you always have (or will have most of the time) Internet access of some sort.  When inside CLEAR’s coverage area, you get the 4G higher speed and no limits / cap on usage. When outside CLEAR’s coverage area, it will change over automatically to SPRINT’s PCS Data Coverage which is slower, and has a 5gb/month download limit.  If you exceed that limit, they charge you $10/gb.  Ouch!

If you stay at home, don’t need mobile Internet, then let’s look at what you have now. If you are on DSL, you will probably benefit by switching to CLEAR.  If you are on Road Runner Cable, other than Turbo, you “might” benefit by switching.  If you are on RR Cable Turbo, and you get more than 10mbps download speeds (using www.speedtest.net) then you are likely not a candidate for switching.

Confused?  Don’t be! Call the experts at WiMAX SATX for a free home visit / evaluation and we’ll work with you to find the best deal!  Call us at 210-771-7075 or email us at lee@wimaxsatx.com

Clear WiMax vs. Time Warner Road Runner

We just got Time Warner’s 2010 price schedule (for the San Antonio TX market) in the mail today, so we thought we’d share some pricing and speed ratings with you on our website, just in case that would help you make a better more informed decision to switch to Clear Wimax service in the San Antonio / New Braunfels Texas service area.  (We can sell contracts for other Clear service areas elsewhere in Texas or the USA, but our primary market is the San Antonio / New Braunfels TX area.)

Naturally when you look at mobile Internet, you can’t beat Clear at present time.  Eventually, Sprint will offer 4G and Time Warner will offer 4G, both using Clear’s own 4G Wimax network to provide that service, so why not start with the service that supports the others?  But this article is about fixed location service, at your  home.

We had previously compared AT&T DSL prices, those plans that did not require a separate phone line in order to get DSL service at your house, so now we’ll compare prices for rates that require, or don’t require, addtitional Cable TV services as a prerequisite for obtaining Road Runner Internet.
