Samsung NC10 Netbook with CLEAR Wimax built in

This past week, I had the opportunity to play with one of the new Samsung NC10 Netbook’s running on CLEAR Wimax 4G service.   No more inserting an external dongle / USB modem to get 4G service.   This netbook is NOT capable of performing dual 4G/3G connections, only 4G or Wi-Fi (but not simulanteously).

The customer, who got the netbook direct from CLEAR, had been experiencing signal issues inside the house and contacted me after we met during a volunteer event planning meeting for the American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure bicycle event.

New Sprint / CLEAR Markets for 2010

Sprint announced that it plans on providing 4G WiMAX to 120 million Americans by the end of the year.

It plans on setting up networks in Los Angeles and Miami by the end of 2010.  Cincinnati, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Miami, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City and St. Louis will all have WiMAX capabilities by the end of this year. These cities are added to Washington D.C., New York, Boston, Houston, Kansas City, San Francisco and Minneapolis as markets where WiMAX will be launched.  We know that Houston is going on line next month in April.

Sprint rents space on Clearwire’s network. Sprint owns a majority share in Clearwire, which installs the WiMAX network.

This information was first released by www.GoingWimax.com, one of our favorite trusted sites for Wimax news.

New Trend: CLEAR + DirecTV Satellite

As we visit our new customers around San Antonio, we’ve found that many of them are switching completely away from their current provider for Internet AND TV, moving to CLEAR wireless Internet (from WiMAXSATX.com of course) and to DirecTV Satellite TV.

Ironically, three of our current CLEAR sales reps are also qualified DirecTV installers, and one of them in fact also can also do Dish Network installations and adjustments.    And if that wasn’t enough, we just signed up two new reps, starting this week in fact, who are also DirecTV installers / dealers.

Once is coincidence, twice is a pattern, and we don’t need to be told a third time that the combination of CLEAR Internet and DirecTV Satellite TV is a winning combination!

Therefore we’re announcing that we have begin the process of becoming a dealer for DirecTV.   After seeing so many folks wanting to move away from Time Warner or AT&T Uverse TV to DirecTV instead, we’ve decided to take the plunge and become a dealer for DirecTV.

CLEAR Combo 4G/3G Mobile – Price Cut!

CLEAR has now lowered their monthly service plan rate on their dual mode USB modem that covers both the faster 4G and the slower 3G wireless service in a single modem.   Formerly $70/month for a single modem, you can now save $15 and get it for only $55/month service subscription rate instead.

You can lease this dual band USB modem for only $5.99/month with the standard 2 year contract.  If you prefer to buy it up front, the new cost has been dropped from $224.99 to $99.99/each.    This rate compares very favorably with similar modems being offered by both SprintPCS and Time Warner’s Road Runner 4G Mobile Elite packages.

By getting the dual mode USB modem, when you leave the CLEAR 4G subscription area while traveling, your modem will automatically revert to using SprintPCS 3G data network instead.   Of course, you need to be in an area where SprintPCS offers data coverage, but that map easily rivals the Red or Blue map shown recently on a competitor’s TV commercials.

CLEAR Lifetime Guarantee – Save $120/yr Until Feb 28th?

We’ve just been informed that CLEAR will be changing prices on its package plans, effective March 1st, at least here in the San Antonio Texas market, and will be removing the offering that says “price guaranteed for life” on the intro packages, and then offering the same intro price only for the first 6 months before increasing to the “regular” posted monthly rate.

For example, the PICK2 Plan advertised for $55/month will start out at that rate, but go up to $65/month beginning with the 7th month of service.  The PICK3 Plan now advertised at $75/month will go up to $85/month on the 7th month of service.  Naturally, CLEAR reserves the right to change their offered prices at any time, so you ought to lock in the lowest intro price now while you still can.

So if you were thinking about signing up for CLEAR 4G Wimax Wireless Internet, now’s the time to be making that happen, so you can save up to $120/year in service costs.

So to accomodate your needs and schedules, WiMAX SATX reps will only be available 7 days a week, days and evenings, and will take a break on the 8th day of the week, until everybody who wants signed up with CLEAR under the current low rates, had been signed up and activated.  We’ll bring the equipment to you, set it up for you free of charge, and leave you as a “happy camper” once more!

By the way, we set up a demo over the weekend for a client, who happened also to be one of our computer service clients.   His Road Runner speed was less than 2.5mbps and his CLEAR 4G Wireless Internet speed was over 12mbps.    Upon changing him back from his live demo test to his regular method, he could really tell the difference while surfing the Internet.  We suspect his mom will be signing up with us for CLEAR really soon!

For more information about CLEAR WiMAX services in the San Antonio Metro Area, including New Braunfels, feel free to contact us direct at 210-771-7075 or email us at lee@wimaxsatx.com.
